Simone worked in a boutique tax/trust/superannuation consultancy firm Baldwins before coming to the Bar, and also at the ATO Legal Unit in 1999 after which she returned to the Bar in 2000. Cases for the Commissioner include debt work such as winding ups, DPN and s 588FGB matters as well as other defended debt matters. Part IVC work for the Commissioner includes as junior counsel in Full Court Federal Court (CT v Mochkin), and as counsel in the AAT as well as advices.

Other areas of practice (often involving inter-related tax issues) include insolvency, trusts, commercial and proceeds of crime. Also, Simone has appeared for the Commissioner of Taxation as intervenor in bankruptcy matters and in the Family Court.
