Laura is a corporations law specialist with an increasing revenue practice. Currently holding three first class degrees: Bachelor of Science (chemistry and physics), Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Master of Commercial Law, Laura is completing her second Masters degree at the University of Melbourne, in taxation.
Laura’s tax experience includes acting for ATO in the AAT and Supreme Court, and acting for the taxpayer in an R&D case.
Laura has appeared as solo counsel in the Federal Court and all Victorian Courts and conducted several trials. Recently she led a team in the Court of Appeal. As a former blue-chip corporate lawyer, general counsel and company director, Laura’s opinion is regularly sought in corporations, securities, banking and competition law by listed companies and government departments, including ASIC.
A corporate specialist for 12 years at Slaughter and May (London), Blake Dawson Waldron and Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Laura regularly managed tax issues when leading teams in high-stakes transactions. Laura has been appointed to the Law Council’s Competition and Corporations Law committees, and was finalist for ‘Barrister of the Year’ in the Lawyer’s Weekly Women-in-Law Awards in 2016 and 2017. Laura recently completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ directorship course.
