Fiona practices in taxation, commercial and administrative law.

 

She is regularly briefed to appear in the Federal and Supreme Courts, and before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal on Part IVC review matters, and to advise and draw documents in relation to taxation disputes in all jurisdictions. 


Selected taxation matters in which Fiona has acted include:

  • Sandini Pty Ltd & Ors v Ellison & Ors [2018] HCATrans 190 (with Helen Symon QC)

  • Living and Leisure Australia Pty Ltd v Commissioner of State Revenue [2017] VSC 675; [2018] VSCA 237; [2019] HCATrans 56 (with Chris Horan QC), and 

  • Andrew Watson as trustee for the Murrindindi Bushfire Class Action Settlement Fund v Commissioner of Taxation [2019] FCA 228 (with David Bloom QC and Daniel McInerney).

Fiona is recommended in Doyle's Guide to Leading Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Junior Counsel, and to Leading Construction and Infrastructure Junior Counsel.


Before coming to the Bar, Fiona was associate to Justice Pagone of the Federal Court, and to Justices Davies, Bongiorno and Hargrave at the Supreme Court of Victoria, where she gained experience in federal and state revenue cases both at appellate level and at first instance.

 

Outside of her work at the Bar, Fiona has assisted as a specialist tax and regulatory reporter for the Federal Court Reports and an updating author for Thomson Reuters’ Victorian Courts annotated civil procedure service.
