Brind has been practising at the Bar for over 45 years. He has had extensive experience in white-collar crime, particularly with respect to revenue offences, and matters arising out of Project Wickenby.
Since 2000 he has been briefed in a large number of significant tax audits of both individuals and corporations, both for the ATO and taxpayers. He has been briefed to assist the ATO at compulsory examinations pursuant to what is now section 353-10 of the Taxation Administration Act 1953 (formerly section 264 of the 1936 Act), and has similarly represented taxpayers at such examinations.
For many years he has given advice to taxpayers with respect to potential criminal liability or other offences that may have been committed under revenue laws. He has also been involved in advising both the ATO and taxpayers with respect to claims for legal professional privilege.
