Stephen is very experienced in the conduct of taxation litigation and related disputes, frequently appearing in proceedings at all levels of the administrative appeals and court system, including first instance and appeal matters of considerable scope and factual and legal complexity.

Stephen also acts for clients in pre-litigious steps, such as providing advice on taxation issues, acting for clients at audit and objection stages and in the preparation of ruling requests, and representing parties involved in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, conciliation and early neutral evaluation.

Stephen has a particular interest and expertise in matters involving scientific, technical and quantitative issues and has appeared in several cases involving the oil, gas and mining industries as well as a number of cases involving contested valuations.
