Gareth has particular expertise in business, corporate and international taxation. He appears for and advises both taxpayers and the Commissioner of Taxation in tax disputes and appeals. Notably, Gareth recently appeared as junior counsel for the successful taxpayer in the Full Federal Court in Lewski v Commissioner of Taxation [2017] FCAFC 145 concerning deductibility of payments and present entitlement to amounts from a trust estate.
Before joining the bar, Gareth was in-house counsel for the Macquarie Group based in New York responsible for international tax and transfer pricing across the Americas region. Gareth was previously a Senior Associate with Minter Ellison and started his career in PwC’s international tax team.
