Daniel is a dedicated taxation barrister known for his strong technical and advisory knowledge. He was called to the Bar in November 2007 after a decade in practice and has appeared in a number of complex taxation cases since that time. These cases include Howard v Commissioner of Taxation, a High Court decision on the intersection of fiduciary duties of directors and the taxation of trusts, Commissioner of Taxation v Noza Holdings, a decision of the Full Federal Court on cross-border financing and Part IVA, and the Full Federal Court decision SNF (Australia) v Commissioner of Taxation on transfer pricing.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Daniel commenced his career in the National Office of the ATO before moving to the Australian Government Solicitor and then PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal.
Daniel has a Master of Taxation degree from the University of New South Wales and is a Chartered Tax Adviser. He has an extensive advisory practice in relation to structuring as well as settling taxation disputes with the ATO. Daniel works closely with Australia’s leading tax silks, multinational mining, mining services and financial services companies.
