Catherine has advised both the Commissioner of Taxation and taxpayers in relation to corporate income tax and the taxation of trusts. Catherine has also appeared on behalf of the Commissioner in corporate income tax and petroleum resource rent tax cases. Recent cases in which Catherine has appeared include PTTEP Australasia (Ashmore Cartier) Pty Ltd v FCT [2014] FCAFC 71 and ZZGN v FCT [2013] AATA 351.

Catherine also practises in commercial and insolvency law and has appeared in both international and domestic commercial arbitration.

 

Before signing the Bar roll, Catherine worked as a solicitor in Hong Kong and Melbourne. In Hong Kong, Catherine advised principally on cross-border insolvency and corporate and financial restructuring. Catherine has also worked for many years as an interpreter in French and Mandarin Chinese.
